In Arabic and in Hebrew, Nazareth
means guardian, perhaps referring to the towns
strategic location above the Valley of Esdraelon in Israel.
Later, the allusion was made to Nazareths role as guardian
of Christian tradition for there the Franciscan fathers nurtured
and preserved the spiritual heritage of the town.

Nazareth, the town where the child Jesus lived, is sacred
to humanity, object of pilgrimage from all over the world
because of its sacred sites. The largest church in the city
is the Basilica of the Annunciation, projected by the Italian
architect Giovanni Munzio in 1969. The Basilica is erected
over the grotto where, according to tradition, the Archangel
Gabriel announced to Mary that she would be mother of Christ.
Nazareth, with its landscape made of green hills and rocky
pastures dotted with olive trees, and all its precious monuments,
has served as the inspiration for this new collection of writing
instruments. The Nazareth 2000 collection symbolizes hope
for better times to come in the beginning of the new millennium.
